- Preheat the oven to 400°F.
- In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the gnocchi according to package instructions until they float. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, drizzle the olive oil. Add the diced onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds.
- Add the crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Let it simmer for about 10 minutes.
- Gently fold the cooked gnocchi into the skillet, then spread the mixture into a greased 9x13 baking dish.
- Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheese generously over the top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
- Top with fresh basil if desired and serve.
