Ingredients

Group: Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. baking powder
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • ½ tsp. ground cinnamon
Group: Wet Ingredients
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup milk
Group: Apples and Frying Oil
  • 2 cups peeled and diced apples (Granny Smith recommended)
  • vegetable oil (for frying)
  • powdered sugar (for dusting)

Equipment

  • Deep skillet or large pot

Method

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
  2. In another bowl, whisk the egg into the milk until completely blended. Pour the liquid mixture into the flour mixture, stir gently until just combined.
  3. Fold the diced apples into the batter, ensuring every piece is coated.
  4. In a deep skillet or large pot, heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  5. Drop the batter into the hot oil, 2-3 at a time, and fry until golden brown on both sides (about 2-3 minutes per side).
  6. Remove the fritters from the oil and let them drain on paper towels. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

Ensure the oil is hot enough to avoid greasy fritters.
